High-performance hardware operators for polynomial evaluation
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents some recent works on hardware evaluation of functions. A method for the automatic generation of high-performance arithmetic operators based on polynomial approximations is described. It deals with the bit-level representation of the polynomial coefficients, the intermediate computations width, the approximation and the rounding errors. The generated operators are small, fast and numerically validated at design time. Some examples have been implemented on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs).

Background and aims: Modern technology has imposed more cognitive demands than physical demands to operators in most workplaces. The Increase of cognitive demands in real working conditions can have negative effect on the mental health and performance of operators. This study was coducted with the aim of subjective and objective evaluation of operators’ mental workload in a city traf...
متن کاملCo-Designing Software and Hardware for Declarative Network Performance Measurement
Diagnosing performance problems in networks is important, for example to determine where packets experience high latency or loss. However, existing performance diagnoses are constrained by limited switch mechanisms for measurement. Alternatively, operators use endpoint information indirectly to infer root causes for problematic latency or drops. Instead of designing piecemeal solutions to work ...
متن کاملHardware operators for function evaluation using sparse-coefficient polynomials
This article presents dedicated hardware arithmetic operators for function evaluation. The proposed solution uses polynomial approximations with sparse coefficients which leads to efficient hardware implementations. Up to 2× faster and 8× smaller operators are reported compared to standard implementations. Introduction: Polynomial approximations are widely used in digital systems for function e...

In this paper, a comprehensive performance review of an MPI-based high-order three-dimensional spectral element method C++ toolbox is presented. The focus is put on the performance evaluation of several aspects with a particular emphasis on the parallel efficiency. The performance evaluation is an...
متن کاملDevelopment of An Artificial Neural Network Model for Asphalt Pavement Deterioration Using LTPP Data
Deterioration models are important and essential part of any Pavement Management System (PMS). These models are used to predict future pavement situation based on existence condition, parameters causing deterioration and implications of various maintenance and rehabilitation policies on pavement. The majority of these models are based on roughness which is one of the most important indices in p...
